Gregory Pierce joined Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) in 1987 and currently serves as executive vice president and chief administrative officer/CFO. He is responsible for all financial, accounting, reporting, human resources, membership, registration, visitors' services, web marketing and technology functions of ACVB and related subsidiaries, reporting directly to the CEO and board of directors. Pierce serves on the boards of all of ACVB's subsidiary companies: ACVB Enterprises, LTD, ATCOMM Publishing and ACVB Foundation, Inc. He is directly involved in setting the strategy for metropolitan Atlanta's largest industry which drives direct economic impact of $11.4 billion dollars a year.
Pierce's duties also include the oversight of the company's consolidated annual budget of approximately $21 million. He coordinates strategic planning for the Bureau's internal and external technology commitments, including ACVB's presence on the Internet (www.atlanta.net and other company Web sites). He most recently co-created ATL Insider, a highly interactive website that encourages locals to participate and give a personal opinion about the city.
Pierce manages the facilities and leasing negotiations for ACVB and related company space requirements, approximating nearly 40,000 square feet. He is also responsible for the creation and implementation of a structured compensation plan designed to target employees' pay at their level of performance, all performance management programs and employee benefit plans.
Pierce is recognized as a leader in the destination marketing industry and is often invited to speak on a variety of topics at industry meetings. The topics have included; performance management, compensation plan design, web marketing, destination research tactics and others.
His previous employment includes Pannell Kerr Forster, certified public accountants, from 1984 to 1987. Pierce is a native Atlantan and a graduate of Emory University's Goizueta Business School. Pierce is an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta Class of 2001.
Pierce's extensive community involvement is focused primarily on the arts community. He has served on the boards of directors of Several Dancers Core, Beacon Dance Company, and Dance Augusta. He is currently chairing the boards of Several Dancers Core and Dance Augusta, and serving as a board member of 7 Stages Theatre. Pierce served for three years on the Dance Panel for the Georgia Council for the Arts traveling the state of Georgia reviewing dance companies applying for state funding. He worked as an advisor for more than a decade to 7 Stages Theatre and the Augusta Ballet
